While dining at the home of a prominent Pharisee, Jesus told a parable about a man who planned a great banquet and invited many guests. When it came time for the party, the invited quests sent “regrets,” and most offered rather lame excuses as to why they could not attend. The host got angry and sent his servants out to invite everyone…the poor, the blind, the lame…saying that “none of those who were invited will ever taste My great feast.” Jesus invites everyone to join Him for His Great Banquet in eternity. He even offers a sampling of the abundant life now. Yet He warns, “the last will be first and the first will be last.” His invitation is probably sitting in the mailbox. Let’s make sure that we are not too busy to accept it. Luke 14:16-23
